This illustration is part of a campaign from the Washington State Conservation Commission, developed with DH. The commission hired DH through the Department of Enterprise Services to create the campaign promoting healthy land along streams, rivers and lakes.

For government organizations hiring a marketing agency for advertising or a social change project, working through the Washington State Department of Enterprise Services can make life easier.
DES can help government organizations in Washington state — whether you’re at the state or local level — find and hire a vetted communications and marketing partner with less hassle than an RFP process. In support of equity, it also makes it easy to identify small and woman-, veteran-, and minority-owned businesses.
And it’s much faster. Through DES, you can streamline contracting and hire a partner in two or three weeks. An RFP can take three to six months.
DH is available for hire through DES for “Advertising and Marketing Campaigning” and “Social Marketing Campaigning” — which can include many kinds of projects. We’ve found the process works well.
How it works
Through an RFP process of its own, DES creates a list of firms that government organizations (including public universities and community colleges) can hire for advertising, community outreach, creative production and more. You select a contractor and provide a scope of work and a work order. DES manages much of the paperwork and helps ensure the process follows state rules.
Who’s on the DES list
DES vets agencies based on their experience. DH and others on the list have demonstrated strong records of results. The state also clearly marks small businesses and minority-, veteran- or woman-owned businesses. (As you’ll see on the list, DH is both a small business and women-owned. We also have partial minority and queer ownership.)
Who can join your project
Other partners can join projects via a DES contract. For example, DH fosters relationships with community-based organizations and community-owned subcontractors throughout Washington who can be important partners for our clients. A DES contract would allow them to join our work together.
