Celebrating progress and embracing pride in Greater Seattle

November 20, 2023

In October, three members of our team, Marc Berger, Amy Snow Landa and I, attended the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce’s annual Regional Leadership Conference (RLC) — three days of building relationships and having important discussions about Greater Seattle’s challenges and opportunities with business, civic and government leaders.

After listening to presentations and connecting with colleagues on topics such as placemaking, public transportation and local elections, we couldn’t help but feel energized and curious about what lies ahead for our region.

One of the highlights at RLC was the announcement of Upward Together, a collaborative, community-wide effort to generate enthusiasm for and foster inclusivity in Greater Seattle. It’s a new framework for our region going forward, a vision of community and business supporting one another, acknowledging progress, and celebrating our collective “big wins.”

The DH team sees those wins each day from our Seattle office on the corner of First Avenue and Pike Street, across from Pike Place Market. We made the intentional decision to open an office in the heart of downtown because we believe in its long-term vitality. An activated, healthy downtown is good for our business, our people and our broader community, and we are here to stay.

DH is proud to be the Chamber’s creative partner in the Upward Together campaign and to be part of the visioning work in the business community across our region and state. Some of the most meaningful work we do is partner with organizations like the Seattle Metro Chamber, Greater Spokane Inc., and the Association of Washington Business to identify new opportunities for progress and we take pride in what we are building together.

That looks like

businesses and organizations touting each other’s success and creating spaces that are welcoming to everyone.

That feels like

pride in a region that recognizes its challenges and is actively finding ways to make it better.

That sounds like

excitement for the future following a long stretch of uncertainty.

We like to say we’re zealous here at DH. In fact, it’s one of our core values. We’re zealous about our partners, our work and our communities, and we are here for all the moments, big and small. Let’s take pride in our achievements and continue to work toward a brighter, more inclusive future. Onward and upward together!

Assumptions are expensive: Why data-driven communications includes investing in research.

In this era of “data-driven communications,” many organizations are averse to investing in research. But research helps you reach your audience, uncover nuance, and avoid wasting budget.
