Forging your own path.

Stacie has a history with DH that goes back to its early years, working as a freelancer for the agency for 15 years. In that role, she supported accounts, coordinated projects and contributed writing.

“We sort of joke that it was a 15-year trial period,” Stacie says. “Some of the original DHers and I grew our careers together and have maintained a strong relationship over the years.”

Now that she’s a full-time DHer, Stacie says that building and nurturing relationships has been key to her success. “My career has been shaped by all the people I’ve met and worked with along the way,” she says.

Relationships are valuable in this business, but in the end, she says, it all comes down to the work itself: “It’s about trust. Your clients need to know that you will deliver high-quality work – always. Do that, and they will return time and again.”

A well-rounded background.

In college, Stacie was an English major before switching to journalism studies, ultimately earning a degree in public relations. All of those areas are reflected in her work with DH today, as is her background as a communications strategist with various business development, government, higher education and health care organizations, including the former Spokane Area Economic Development Council (now part of Greater Spokane Inc.), Inland Northwest Health Services and Washington State University.

As a freelancer, Stacie’s roster of clients included Gonzaga University, the University of Idaho and Kootenai Medical Center.  She also served recently on the science communications team at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, where she promoted the research organization’s work in national security.

STACIE’S TAKE ON: The importance of telling stories

I’ve always considered myself a writer first. I love telling stories. I love hearing about other peoples’ experiences and being able to share them. It’s one reason I originally went out on my own as a freelancer: I wanted to be able to take on meaningful writing projects and exercise the writing muscle.

Getting some fresh air.

Stacie is based in Kennewick, Washington, where she and her family try to spend as much time outdoors as possible. When she isn’t working her account magic at DH, you can find Stacie paddleboarding on the Columbia, boating, camping, golfing or skiing.
