Washington State has many advantages for businesses, but no matter where your business calls home, there are always challenges.

Building market share and brand preference. Differentiating from your competitive set. Moving consumers to action. Hitting specific performance metrics.

We love a challenge.

Take a look at some of the ways we’ve helped businesses, associations and public entities across Washington meet their goals through communications strategy.

Association of Washington Business

We know you’re familiar with AWB — you’re at their Policy Summit, after all.

We helped AWB refresh their brand identity (message platform, mission, vision, values and their visual identity system) to better articulate and champion their vision of prosperity in Washington. This work also created new pathways for future business leaders to get involved in the organization by appealing to emerging millennial leaders.

To leverage the new brand, DH created a launch plan and supported AWB’s efforts with brand materials including a logo identity package, community presentation deck and eBlast templates. The plan also called for an internal rollout strategy to get AWB staff excited so they could be effective champions for the new brand.

Greater Spokane Incorporated

We are extremely involved with our local chamber and economic development council, GSI. Our CEO, Michelle Hege, has served on the board with partner Christine Varela, GSI Public Policy Council Chair, for several years — and this year Michelle is the incoming board president. Our work with GSI has been long and varied, but most recently we helped rebrand the organization to better position them as an innovative hub of connection across our region.

The work included a new message platform and visual identity system that allowed GSI to capture the momentum and impact of their work to the make Inland Northwest more prosperous. DH supported the brand rollout with a comprehensive plan including digital outreach, brand ambassador training and a grand unveiling at the 2018 GSI Annual Meeting, attended by nearly 1,000 local business leaders.

Washington State Association of Counties

WSAC hired DH to design an advocacy effort supporting their legislative ask to replace a long-standing state law limiting property tax collection, which pays for essential public services. We elevated the prominence of this issue across every county in the state and helped educate policy makers, members of the media and the raise public awareness.

Our advocacy plan identified opportunities for public safety officials, county leaders and elected officials to communicate directly about harm the property tax cap was causing. We executed a statewide media relations effort and launched a social media campaign in strategic legislative districts across the state, which saw 240,000 targeted impressions in three weeks. We also created an animated video, downloadable fact sheets and website content that were used on a daily basis by WSAC.

You can see a campaign video here.

Kiemle Hagood

Kiemle Hagood is the largest provider of commercial real-estate in our region, but they live in a hyper-competitive marketplace and needed to better stand out. We helped them with a brand refresh, making them visually unique from every other commercial realtor and helped position the company as a legacy brand, along with a vision for the type of business they work to support across the Inland Northwest.

Genentech, one of the world’s leading biotechnology companies, discovers, develops, and manufactures medicines to treat patients with serious or life-threating medical conditions.

We worked with their corporate marketing team in San Francisco to develop internal engagement strategies that incentivize their team to participate in organizational initiatives. We work well in overarching brand strategy, but can also specialize at the programmatic level to support divisions working within overall brand frameworks.

We’re proud to play a role in helping businesses succeed in Washington State. If you have a specific challenge around increasing market share, advocating for an issue or driving success for specific programs, we’d love to connect. We love a challenge.

Find Michelle and Christine at the AWB Policy Summit or reach out to them afterward.
